Junkin Trips
Recently a customer, in the store, was asking me about Junkin Trips. Her questions included: how do I choose, where do I go, do I repeat trips, how do I find places to junk. As we were chatting I wondered if others would be interested….so here we go :)
Let’s start with I LOVE a road trip. And I LOVE a road trip with a good friend. I usually jink in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio. There’s plenty of great junk in those states. (but maybe someday I’ll add more states!)
When I was working (you know..the job that actually paid!) I drove (or flew) all over the US. During meetings I would junk the area. When you are junkin be sure and ask for area suggestions. I’ve found some really great hidden stops because of referrals.
Another LOVE is visiting my friends’ shops. So I will make the drive to see a friends’ place and junk my way to and from. It allows means I make a lot of stops at new junkin places.
Everywhere I go I grab antique booklets. Every booklet gets written notes and thoughts beside the stops which means I don’t need to remember where to stop again!
I’m always looking at estate sales and marketplace. If I purchase on marketplace I can junk there and back. If I make a trip to a new antique mall I’’ll search marketplace finds.
Basically I’m always junkin…here, there and everywhere :)
Let me know what junkin questions you have! b
