Junkin Weekend

Let me start with I’m incredibly thankful with how busy my store has been this year. THANK YOU…..so I have a good problem: I cannot keep inventory in the store. In the past I’ve stacked everything two tall. (I’m a stacking guru at this point)…..but the amount of items I was purchasing was pretty much equal to what was being sold. (like I said - a good problem to have).

So, this past weekend we hooked up the trailer and headed out.

Stop 1: A garage sale on the way to an estate sale. Bought a bookcase, lunchpail, thermos and two teal metal racks. The gentlemen who was holding the sale kept apologizing because it was a “guy” sale ;0

Stop 2: The estate sale of Grandpa and his brothers’ stuff. Apparently all three were super handy farm boys. They had so many great tools, furniture, farm equipment. I did end up with some Jadeite, McCoy, Ceramic Deer….but the rest was all tools, brushes, metal cart and a heavy desk. The desk is all wood and handmade…it is a gorgeous grey desk.

Stop 3: An antique store that I heard was really good…..but I just didn’t feel it. I bought three small things there, but nothing really jumped out at me. It was a lot of the “usual” stuff. And a lot of girlie dishes ;0

At this point we had been on the road and junkin for several hours…so we headed to the hotel. We stayed in Springfield (next day was the extravaganza). We had a beautiful corner room at the hotel with a little balcony. We picked up dinner and ate on the balcony overlooking old brick buildings. Such a wonderful evening.

Stop 4: Was 10 hours at Springfield. It was SO good. They had 1,700 vendors (outdoors, and masks were required). The food there was great too. The best pizza truck, and ice cream cone selling ice cream!! Coffee, lemonade, and sweet tea. So good. Go for the food if you don’t like vintage :). The goal of this trip was furniture…and did we ever find it. We used every strap we had. The truck had two layers and the trailer was a jenga. Tables, Desks, Side Tables, Benches, Bookcases, Vintage Signs and so much more. And it was SO great to not be in a rush, to go back for items, to walk slowly, chat with people and just enjoy the day.

After that long day it was dinner, shower and back to that balcony. Sunday morning we made one antique store stop in VanWert, Ohio….but I really only had room for buttons and plates (hahaha)…and then the fun of unloading. It’s like Christmas finding treasures you love.

Monday wash, tag, inventory, repair and paint. And here’s hoping I can keep my store full - then again - please come be a good problem for me :)

Love great weather, good company (my hubby) and vintage junk <3
